This course examines global corporations' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its impact on the local environment and society. The course takes a critical anthropological perspective to explore the social, cultural, and economic dimensions of CSR initiatives and their influence or integration with local sustainability practices. The focus is on how local communities perceive and respond to corporate CSR initiatives, including their expectations, needs, and concerns, and how corporations navigate the tension between global standards and local practices, considering the impact on communities and ecosystems.
